The 2nd day of the 3 day long Tea & Tourism Fest, Kalimpong Chapter witnessed Baby Show, Dog Show and Bike Stunts at the Main Road venue. The GTA Sabhasad, Samuel Gurung was the chief guest at the venue. The troupes from the Cultural Department delivered beautiful performances while the Jawans did Bhangra. In the Baby Show kids of age group 2 to 4 partook. The winner babies were awarded. The public of Kalimpong also got to see different breed of dogs during the Dog Show. Further, a group of children also performed dance on Rabindra Sangeet. Lalit Golay and Group staged a skit. Other GTA Sabhasads, Ward Councilors, Mitendra Chettri, Culture Department officer, Samir Gazmer, Forest Department officer, etc were present during the occasion.

Similarly, the festival at Mela Ground venue was equally enthralling with Fashion Show Competition organized by the Kalimpong Vidyarthi Morcha. Director of MAFT, New Delhi, Dipesh Karna, MAFT, North East Convener, Milan Rai and Rajen Gurung were the panel of judges for the event. The Jazz Band, the Army cultural troupe performed in the evening. The chief guest at this venue was Abhishek Gurung, son of GTA Executive Chief Bimal Gurung.

The festival saw a different angle at the Ronaldsay Ground of Dr Graham Homes, 4 kms away from the main town. The Helicopter Joyride here fascinated number of people. With Rs 3000/- per head, the Joyride seemed to be the main attraction of the event. The 10 mins ride showcased Kalimpong’s aerial view. On the 2nd day 11 Joyrides were made. The Joyride will last till the closing day.

“If the state government initiates Helicopter service in the hills then it can create good revenue generation”, said one of the businessmen.
