Darjeeling/ Kalimpong, January 22:

As the dates for decision on Telangana formation is nearing, the political mercury in the hills has once again risen. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s (GJM) 2nd phase of agitation is gradually catching its pace. The whole of the hills today lit up during the ‘torch rally’ of the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha (GJYM), under the direction of the GJM, its mother organization. The rally reiterated the Gorkhaland demand. 

The torch rally at Darjeeling started from Gorkha Dukh Niwarak Sammelan (GDNS) ground and ended at Chowk Bazaar after encircling the main town. All the members of the GJYM were involved in the rally.

Kalimpong too echoed with the Gorkhaland demand during a similar torch rally of the Yuva Morcha which commenced form the Morcha office. The Ward Councilors, members of the Naari Morcha and members of the GJM Sub Divisional Committee partook in the rally.
