The Sunday which comes before the Good Friday is observed as Palm Sunday by the Christian believers. The day is particularly regarded as a Christian moveable feast commemorating Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Jesus along with his disciples had gone Jerusalem from Bethany on this day. The following Friday, he was crucified.

Commemorating the day, the Christian believers of Kalimpong held prayers in their respective churches, today. The children with dates in their hands and singing hymns carried out a rally which culminated into prayer mass in the churches.

The prayer mass at Mac Farlene Church, the oldest church of Kalimpong was led by Rev. Father, S Lepcha. Also special prayers were held at Bongbusty Church, Alsedai Church, Free Church, Catholic churches, etc.
