Kalimpong, March 13:
The first day of the Higher Secondary board examinations/ Uccha Madhyamik went successfully at all the allotted 7 centres in Kalimpong. Similarly, the examinations for Class XI in all 15 schools also went equally well.
As per the information received from SUMI, the main centre for the Higher Secondary examinations, a total of 1915 students in Kalimpong are appearing for the said examinations, this year. Out of these, 1041 are boys under which 872 are regulars, 31 are CCs and 136 are special candidates. Likewise, out of 874 girls, 757 are regulars, while 11 are CCs and 106 are special candidates. The 7 examination centres are SUMI, Kumudini Homes, Government High School, Jubilee Higher Secondary School, Girls Higher Secondary School, Philomena Higher Secondary School and Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir. The former 4 schools are the centres for boys while the latter 3 are for girl candidates. Further, 1809 students from 15 Higher Secondary Schools have appeared for the Class XI exams.
NR Pradhan, Principal of SUMI said that everything was organized since before in order to conduct the examinations properly. He said that this year the load is bit less as for the Gorubathan area nearby schools has been allocated as centres. However, there are few issues with the class XI examination, as SUMI has been made the main centre even for those schools which are in remote areas. There are schools in such remote areas which have been made Higher Secondary, still the centre is SUMI, he said and added that it much time is being taken while delivering the question papers to such areas from SUMI.
Concerned with the current situation and its impact over the students, Pradhan has appealed the administration not to conduct continuous raids, as it will adversely affect the students.
