Sukh Bahadur Rai, GJM NE region coordinator, has claimed that the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has assured of support to the Gorkhaland demand. It may be mentioned that the GJM has set off to gather support for the separate state demand from the NE states.

Rai, who is at Itanagar at present while speaking over the phone said that a meeting was held with the representatives of APSU, which lasted for around 2 hours. The meeting was held at the residence of Kamta Lapung, APSU president. Rai during the meet gave justification over the Gorkhaland demand and its need. He also underlined that support from the NE region is a must for the demand to be successful.

APSU is a strong organization of the students of Arunachal Pradesh. The Union also has a strong hold on the state’s politics. At present the state is busy preparing for Panchayat elections, thus, the APSU soon after the elections will be holding a peace rally with the Gorkha community of the state in support of Gorkhaland.
