A house at 16 Mile Payeu Busty under Algarah Block was gutted by fire at around 1 am today. Though no loss of life has been reported property was damaged and the house owner has been majorly injured. He is under treatment at Kalimpong Sub-divisional Hospital. Kalpana Tamang the area sabhasad handed over Rs 5000 to the owner for his medical expenses. It has been informed that the owner is a daily wage labourer. The sabhasad has also assured that help will be provided for the construction of his house. It is being opined that the fire started from a lamp lit in the altar room of the house. The police and the panchayat workers also inspected the incident spot today.
