Gorkhaland Rajya Nirman Morcha to support Dr.M.P.LAMA for MP Candidate.

Prof.Mahendra P.Lama, an educationist and former Vice Chancellor of Sikkim University who has been garnering support for his candidature as MP from the Darjeeling lok sabha constituency has found his first political friend in the form of Gorkhaland Rajya Nirman Morcha (GRNM)—a party floated by former GNLF bigwig Dawa Pakhrin. Lama has been camping in the hills ever since the Telangana issue spurredGorkhaland demand in the hills and garnering support from the people to contest the seat as an indpendent
candidate for the seat currently occupied by BJP top brass Jaswant Singh.
“We have decided to support Lama as a candidate for the seat,” said Pakhrin on Thursday. Pakhrin’s GRNM is a member of federation for new states in India and it is the same federation which has asked for a MP candidate to the party claimed the former GNLF leader.
Lama has gone on to make issue of Gorkhaland as his poll agenda but that incidentally has not impressed the Peoples Forum based in New Delhi which recently sent five names to the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh
(BGP)—an apolitical organization of Gorkha literary figures. The five name list which consisted of Doctarate degree holders and Delhi based Journalists of Gorkha origin ironically did not mention
Lama as their choice citing reasons that Lama has to first clarify his political posture.
The GRNM now being the political party to support Lama, although the role of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha
(GJM) is counted as important at the current political situation, said Lama should not only use the Gorkhaland issue for winning the election but will have to participate in all the agitation programme for a separate state demand.
