MOUNTAIN CYCLING EXPEDITION BY ARMY IN SUPER HIGH ALTITUDE AREA

Kalimpong,17th July
A Mountain Cycling Expedition consisting of one Officer, one Junior Commission Officer and eight Other Ranks in Super High Altitude Area of Sikkim by a unit of the Striking Lion Division which was flagged off from Khangjakma on 30 June 2014 reached Kalimpong on 17 July 2014. The expedition was received by Major General Gurpal Singh Sangha, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Striking Lion Division. The General Officer Commanding congratulated Captain Navjoot Thakur, the expedition leader for successfully scaling some of the highest and most treacherous mountain passes on the Indo-China border along the Great Himalayan Ranges in extreme weather conditions. The Cycling Expedition will finally culminate at Sukna on 19 July 2014 after covering total distance of 685 kms.
