Kalimpong Rape accused sentenced 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by Darjeeling District Court

Ashok Golay, resident of Kalimpong, has been sentenced rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and 10 thousand fine in default and addition of 6 months. The case was charge sheeted against him under the Section 376 of IPC, allegedly had committed rape upon two major girls on September 19, 2013 who were from  Dr Graham homes A 2 block. There was in total 14 witnesses were examined during the Trial period of this case under the Session case number 2014, State vs Ashok Golay.

Both the rape victims are to get compensation from State Govt. or District Service Authority under Section 357A CrPc.

The Judgment was passed by Additional District and Session Judge Second court Shree Santanu Misra.

“Law will take its own course, nobody is above law”, said district public prosecutor Pranay Rai after the court verdict announced. Rate of court sentences has been increased by 70 percent after the appointment of Pranay Rai as a district Public Prosecutor. “In order to maintain peace in the hills and check crime, such court sentences are must”, district PP affirms.
