12.5 crore given to Lepcha Board on MLDB third anniversary

The third Foundation day of MLDB board was today observe in Kalimpong . The main attraction of the program was CM Mamata Banerjee who has warmly received by the board. She was presented a Token on this occasion. Mamata Banerjee handed over a Cheque of 10 crore to MLDB Chairman L Tamsang in addition 2.5 Crore for Board infrastructural building. She handed over a cheque of recently announce Tamang Dev Board Chairman Sanjay Moktan. CM today said that she is happy with the work done by MLDB board. She promised to appoint 46 Para Teacher in Lepcha School and ask Board to provide land to set up Lepcha Cultural Heritage Centre.Without naming GTA she said that Willingness to Do a work is must. If u dont do the work given than what it the use. She said the MLDB has done it and It has set an example to Learn and others should take a lesson from MLDB . CM flagged off 28 new buses for hills and said that she will be visiting hills soon.

"Darjeeling is become Congested . There are a lot of unexplored areas in Kalimpong and Kurseong. We have already set up Lamahatta eco-tourism. We are giving stress on home tourism," she told  in a meeting here today at Delo Banerjee today said that thrust would be given on developing new tourist spots in the Kalimpong region. for boosting the local economy.Three marketing hubs will come up at Kalimpong, Kurseong and Gorubathan.

Referring to development in the transport sector offer letters were given to 100 new 'no-refusal' taxis during the day.
She announce a project worth Rs 11 crore for solid waste management in Kalimpong and informed about granting permission to set up hydel projects worth Rs 3300 crore for Hills by NHPC.She said work is on for a Rs 2000-crore drinking water project is going in the hills.Today Beneficiaries of different State Run Yojanas were handed over the cheque and amount. She cleared that Not every tribe can be given Development Board but promised to look upon the issue. She stress on Clearing and Beautifying Jhoras so that it can be made attractive place for Tourist. Many other Tribe member were present today in the stage which saw the presence of Kalimpong MLA . Siliguri MLA State home sec etc
