If the rendition of "Joseph and the amazing Technicolour Dream coat" in St. Josephs Convent on 13 September was a treat for the eyes, the juniors of Saptashri Gyanpeeth's presentation of a musical adaptation of Denver Casado and Betina Hershey’s- "We are the monsters" today in the school hall was nothing less than an amazing classy show seemingly performed with finese of those of professional artists. Such was the performing students' gumption in living their character that they had adopted based on the story that the spectators were taken on a fun filled roller coaster children's musical ride that followed human kids into a monster cabaret filled with quirky monster character. In "We are the monsters" the adventurous humans uncover vegetarian vampires along with the rock n’ roll werewolves, gradually realizing there may be more to these monsters that meets the eye. The monsters and the kids discover the importance of friendship even amidst the varied attributes that make each individual different and unique. The musical was directed by Mariam Gurung, the Headmistress with support from staff of Junior School. Speaking on the lines, Gurung said that the drama and the entire practice session brought a positive impact on the students. “Initially the students were not fond of the show but gradually started understanding the story of the play and with the passing of days they were happy that we chose this play". Playing the characters of "We are the monsters" helped the students in boosting their confidence and we have observed changes in their interactions with the teachers, she added.
