Kalimpong November 10, 2014:

Bal Suraksha Abhiyan, (BSA) the NGO here successfully saved three females of 19, 30 and below 18 years from trafficking. It was informed that the trios were missing since 27th October 2014, according to that a missing diary was filed in Kalimpong Police station.
It was known they reached a place called Gosaigau, Kokrajhar district of Assam where the local people informed the police about the wandering girls and their new faces in that area. They were taken under the safe custody of the Gosaigau Police when the girl of 19 messaged two of her friends in facebook (from jaigaon and Kalimpong) informing about their stay under the police surveillance. One immediately reached Assam to help them when the police denied their bail without the assistance of an elder. After the arrival of the friend’s mother, the police handed the three girls to her.
The officer of BSA informed that the girls asked their friend and her mother to leave home for they would reach Kalimpong by themselves but they were unable to trace in Kalimpong. They were convinced in the name of jobs in other cities and stay in Salugara (Siliguri) with a trafficker. Contacting the Gosaigau Police the BSA and Kalimpong Police found that they were handed over to someone else. However another facebook reply helped BSA to trace their location and rescued them. Who also questions about Assam police’ negligence in handing over the girls to an unknown identity and not forwarding an informing in Kalimpong police station even after knowing their location.
