Child-line, Kalimpong sub center observing ‘dosti week’ program.

Kalimpong November 10, 2014:
Darjeeling Child-line, Kalimpong Sub centre, which is supervised by Bal Surakshya Abhiyan has organized a week’s program in Kalimpong Sub division till 14th November 2014 titled as the dosti (friendship) campaign. This includes the schedules like opinion poll for rag pickers, wall painting- help desk, Medical camp etc.
Child-line 1098, an emergency helpline has an aim to reach to the mass and spread awareness about the plights which children carry as a burden in their life. In order to bring the unseen problems in the knowledge of Child-line, Sister Sisilyia Pradhan asks the people to call in their toll-free number 1098 and complain about the unlawful activity which children are compelled to do. She also assured the public about the confidentiality of their call.
The national 24 hours free phone emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection is a project of ‘the Ministry of Women and Child Development’ Government of India. However Child-Line looks after various cases like, rescuing the missing child with assistance of other organizations, Provides shelter according to their wish, and Support the rape victims medically and emotionally.
The team was spotted convincing people on questions like how and when to contact child line. While the banner also read ‘if you see a child ill and alone, in need of shelter, abandoned or lost, beaten or abused, working as a child labor and being bullied on the streets, call 1098.’ However sister Sisiliya also appealed people to cooperate them if anyone comes across child related problems.
