Adding to the list of meritorious list of PHD holder in Mongpu , Gyanendra Gurung has been awarded with a PhD Degree in Physical Education.Gurung is probably the first one from Darjeeling Hills to obtaion the Degree.

Born to Late Dil Kumar Gurung and Fagu Gurung  Gyanendra Gurung  was an intelligent and hard working student. He passed his 10th Board Exam from Sharda HS Mongpu and Class 12 board from SUMI Kalimpong. After Completing college from ST Josephs College Darjeeling he went to Kalyani Universities for higher Studies where he was conferred with PHD Degree in 24th Sept this year.

He was conferred with prestigious JC Chakrawarti Memorial Award from the hand of Ex Governor Dr M K Narayan after he passed the BPED and MPED exam in first Division and becoming the second topper in entire university.


'Comparative study of Anthropometric profile and motor Performance of Student of Different Attitude' was the title of the thesis and under the supervison of Dr Krishna Banerjee.He is associated with many national and international Journals

He is recently working as a teacher at Kadamtala High School.

Dr Gyanendra Gurung  joins the Elite group of Dr . B.B Gurung, Dr G.C.Subba ,Dr Santosh kumar Rai all PHD holder from Mongpu.
