Kalimpong has a total 171 Aids patient out of which 11 are children. 7% of patient are children who were infected from their mother, 13% are drugs addict and 80 % are patient got infected  from unprotected sexual intercourse .The Alarming figure has been given by Kalimpong Hospital . Today many program on this day was organized in many parts of the town by different NGOs group students etc.An awareness programme on AIDS on the occasion of the World AIDS day was today organized by NSS wing of Cluny Womens College .Student carrying placard   encircled the town . Like wise believer church Kalimpong too took out a rally in the same manner.Kalimpong Society for positive people group of different organizations, associations and the Sanity Home Sindebong an awareness programme on AIDS on the occasion of the World AIDS day.
Former nurse, Sangeeta Rai, addressing the gathering said that the disease has been mostly associated with the young ones and they have to be cautious. There has to be no discrimination to those who are HIV positive or with AIDS. The continues awareness programmes on the same hand has resulted brake on the speedy growth and transfer of the disease. There has been free test of the disease going on at the ICTC hospital she said.
