It was an emotional farewell as  Young Sepoy Sunil Rai , was laid to rest with full military honors at his ancestral house here Tuesday.
The body of Sunil Rai ,22, a sepoy from the 2/11 Gorkha Rifles who was killed in an avalanche in the Turtuk Sector of Ladhak on Friday ,was buried in his native village in Santook, Algarah today .

Yesterday, the Indian Army sent bodies of Bhawan Tamang and Sunil Rai to Bagdogra . After which the body of bhawan was taken to lopchu yesterday while Sunil Rai body was bought today afternoon.

The body was received amidst by home and villagers with tears flowing from their eyes.

On the way many school student ,masses offered Flower and khadas to martyr body wrapped by Tricolor.

Today,his family paid their last respects after which his body was brought to the burial ground by his fellow soldiers in presence of thousand of people.

Born in Dec 1994 Rai joined the army in Dec 2013 . He left behind his Mother Sita Rai, Father Somanath Rai and two brother behind him.
Chants of ‘Bharat mata ki jai’ and ‘Sunil Rai amar rahe’ rent the air during the funeral atop a hill near the house .

Brigadier N B Upadhaya of 164 Mountain Brigade, JOC 33 Crops Lt General Surendra Singh 2nd J&K Rifles , Lt General Rakesh Sharma, Core Commander Sikkim Scout was present from defence , while Ex magistrate Hirak Roy from administration along with Police personal and GTA Sabhasad Kalpana Tamang and thousand of villagers were present today.
