KKS Petition for Panchayat election sent to Bengal Govt by PMO

Kalimpong Krishak Kalyan Sangathan (KKKS) a federal organization operating over all the subdivisions of the Darjeeling district which have written a letter to PM Narendra Modi in regards to holding of Panchayat Election have received a copy from PMO .
In the letter directed the Chief
Secretary of West Bengal The PMO office has ask to reply to the Petitioner
(KKKS) and upload a copy of the same on the portal.
The KKKS have sent a letter to PM on
18th April stating that the NDA Government which observed Gram Uday to Bharat
Uday on 14th April to 24th April 2016. The Central Government, in collaboration
with States and Panchayats, organized a ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan’
(Village Self Governance Campaign). The campaign aims to generate nation-wide
efforts to increase social harmony across villages, strengthen Panchayati Raj,
promote rural development, and foster farmers’ progress.
Aiming on the Mission the KKKS
stated about the Darjeeling Hill region where panchayat election last was held
in 2001. From 2005 no election has been held here which have affected many
areas, especially the rural sector where overall development and benefits
through panchayat system are yet to reach.
The KKKS which asked for the
intervention of Prime Minister for holding panchayat election in the letter on
18th April now have been forwarded to Govt of West Bengal according to status
of the letter Grievenace status which can be checked after entering
Registration Number: PMOPG/D/2016/0106866.
Bishnu Chhetri Secretary of KKKS who
have already filed a PIL at Kolkatta High Court regarding holding of Panchayat
Election in Darjeeling Hill have express that soon a positive signal will come.
He said the High Court in the last hearing of the PIL have directed the State
to Filed a affidavit in regards with Panchayat Election.
