After getting 12 seats out of 22 and winning Kalimpong College union election, the members of Jan Andolan Student Union (JASU) have alleged that they have been receiving calls from different leaders of GJMM and even the MLA urging to help GJVM form the board by giving different offers.

Today all the 12 class representative of JASU speaking to media person said, “We are facing mental torture, even they are coming to our homes, calling us, giving us offers but we are united and we will form the Union,” said Manish Khaling.
Meanwhile Manisha Rai, another winning candidate today released a recording where she was called by MLA Kalimpong Sarita Rai.

In the voice recording of 4.43 minutes,MLA Rai first congratulated the candidate on becoming a class representative and later in the conversation urged her to help GJVM in board formation where she said Manisha
will be getting a good post. All the 12 class representatives were present when the recording was made public and said that they were united .

Jyoti Chhetri said, “Sarita Rai is a good teacher, and we didn’t expect that she will be giving us any offer. We voted for her in the name of Gorkhaland,but now she is interfering in the student union politics which is unfortunate.”

She said,“Even before the election we faced mental pressure not to contest in the election, but we were confident and the college gave us the mandate which all should respect.We are getting different offers now, we were unknowns before the election,and now everyone is trying to buy us as if we have been put up in an auction.”

Meanwhile when asked about the allegation, MLA Sarita Rai said that she has nothing to comment, but later when she was asked about the offer she said, “ I gave a call but with no wrong intentions. She wanted to talk after which I gave her a call. I knew that she was an Independent candidate so I gave her many suggestions and congratulated her too.” “But giving the event a twist and turn and presenting it in a different way is not my problem,” she clarified.

Later in the evening JASU filed an FIR at Kalimpong police station charging corruption, corrupt electoral practices and threat by GJMM and demanding security.The union also demanded strong action against those threatening them.
