A
meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti was conducted at Kalimpong Block No 1
Development Office at Kalimpong today. Giving the information the Sub-division MLA Dr
Harka Bahadur Chettri said that the meeting had the presence of the doctors,
ACMOH, BDO where vital issues pertaining to health were thoroughly discussed.
Dr. Chettri said that the CMOH has great powers in the other regions to carry
out developmental works but the CHOM under the DGHC is feeble. The DGHC has
been an agency of barring funds which has been coming for the hills instead of
implementing it. It is the DGHC not the government which is responsible for the
pathetic condition of the health departments in the hills said Dr. Chettri and
added that the department has not been getting proper funds from the DGHC. The
overall issues of the health department of the hills will be highlighted in the
State assembly and to the health ministry stated Dr Chettri. Commenting on the
Rambi block primary center he said that though they have the facilities but
they lack man power, right things has not been place in the right court he
added. All the existing health departments in the hills have to be renovated
and he stressed on the need of ambulances facility in the three sub-divisions.
The meeting also discussed on the shabby road conditions joining the rural areas
and also on the membership of the respective blocks.
