CPRM labels Chowrasta incident as ‘people’s voice’

Kalimpong, January 30:

The protest by the public during the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s address during the inaugural function of North Bengal Utsav at Chowrasta, Darjeeling has been labeled as ‘the people’s voice’, by the Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM).
Taramani Rai, the CPRM General Secretary on Wednesday said that the incident has proved that the people of the hills have not given up on the Gorkhaland demand.
“Earlier when the CM had stated, ‘Banga Bhang Hobena’, then people had clapped, but now the situation is different. The people then did not know anything and now they know everything”, said Rai and added that the Morcha and Mamata should both understand the message sent across by the public.
Rai also said that neither GTA nor the 6th Schedule can bring peace in the hills, it is Gorkhaland.
“Until and unless Bengal is bifurcated, peace shall not prevail. The present situation here needs to be taken positively”, stated Rai.
Further he alleged the GJM of creating hindrance for Gorkhaland formation in the form of GTA.
“While the people were protesting, the Morcha leaders remained silent” said Rai and added that the leaders should have instead walked out from the programme.
