Kalimpong, January 31:
The Municipality President, LB Pariyar today expressed his concern over various issues related with the Municipality. Pariyar, who has been in the said post since a year, said that many schemes were thought and plans were made and initiated. Foot paths, water tanks and other small works have been carried out under every ward which costs till 7-8 lakhs per ward, he informed.
He also stressed that the major issue on Kalimpong is about the garbage dumping ground. If made, then it will solve 50% of the issues of the town, he opined. The agreement over the Biogas plant needs to be finalized. This will be set up at the Chet Clinic, he added.
Mentioning about the Chowrasta incident which occurred on Tuesday, Pariyar said that such happenings are not of a big issue.
“We too would have left the dais if the GTA Chief Executive, Bimal Gurung had walked out”, he said and added that there would have been some misunderstanding.
He also pointed out there was mistake from the administration side as they were not sent invitation cards. Rather an SMS was sent.
“In my opinion the situation is not very grave at the moment. Further decisions will be taken by the party. GTA might hinder our demand, however it has been formed. The party should take right decisions regarding the GTA now”, he concluded.
