Kalimpong, March 28:

The Janmukti Karmachari Sangathan (JKS) Kalimpong sub division committee has demanded that the central government should pay heed to the Gorkhaland agitation being conducted under the leadership of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM).

In a press meet today, the JKS office bearers claimed that they are ever ready to exceed any limits for the betterment of the employees and for Gorkhaland. The JKS has further claimed that the sit-outs conducted by the employees at their respective governmental offices under the direction of sub division committee president, Khadka Bikram Subba have been successful. During the lunch hour sit-outs from March 9th till 27th, the employees also shouted slogans in order to send a message across the central government that they are in favor of Gorkhaland along with the general public.

Subba addressing the meet said that there are many demands for other separate states in the country, but the Gorkhaland demand is different from all those. And only under the leadership of the GJM the demand will be successful, he proclaimed.

Likewise, Anup Lama, sub divisional secretary appealed all the government employees to work for the welfare of the JKS and alongside also contribute towards the separate state demand. He alleged the state government of trying to de-motivate those employees who are working for the Gorkhaland demand. He also informed that the employees who are supporting the demand are being continuously threatened.

“Sacrifices should be made for Gorkhaland and we, the employees must stand united to fight all odds”, he said.

Lama lastly informed that the JKS will be reconstituted after a meeting with the Mungsong Cinchona 6 Division branch committee on Wednesday.

During today’s conference, Gopal Chettri, treasurer, Prabal Darnal, joint treasurer, KB Gurung, member and other were also present.
