72 hour Darjeeling shut down from 29 th july

The
GJMM Chief Bimal Gurung in his speech during their Central Committee
meeting in Kalimpong announced a 72 hours bandh in Darjeeling Hills. He
said that the Central Government is seriously pursuing the formation of
Telengana but our demand has not been entertained. If Telengana is
formed then Gorkhaland should also be created.
He
added that he is ready to scrap the GTA and resign from his post.
However when he would finally take this step has not been announced so
far.
Keeping
in mind, the current development on Telangana issue, the Gorkha Jan
Mukti Morcha held an urgent meeting at the Kalimpong Girls High School
hall to finalize its stand on Telangana development under the
leaderships of the party chief, Mr. Bimal Gurung. Notably, the meeting started at around 4:30pm.
It
was learnt that all the three hill sub divisions MLAs along with its
senior leaderships of the GJMM including its GTA members were also
present in the meeting.
Since,
the news about the eminent formation of Telangana, the GJMM leaderships
have been demanding that if Telangana is formed then a separate state
of Gorkhaland should also be created. Meanwhile, to press the demand,
they have been organizing rallies and other programs in the hills as
well as they have been meeting central leaders and ministers, in order
to force them to consider the demand of Gorkhaland along with Telangana.
The
Central Government has already completed different talks on Telangana
as well as they have almost decided to grant a separate state of
Telangana . However it is yet to be announced officially but reports
said that it could be announced anytime.
Even
after several efforts by the GJMM, the central government presently is
not in position to favor Gorkhaland, hence to intensify their agitation,
today, they have held its important meeting in Kalimpong.
Sources
said that in today’s meeting all the leaders of the GJMM party
collectively decided to intensify the Gorkhaland agitation. They have
agreed to discard GTA anytime as well.
Meanwhile,
Mr. Gurung has announced several agitational programs to pressurize the
government regarding the demand of Gorkhaland along with the 72 hours
Darjeeling Hills bandh including a two day dharna at Delhi by the Delhi unit of GJM on 29th july and 30th july
