kalimpong ,14th Aug
The scene in kalimpong wore a
deserted look with the beginning of 'Janata Curfew' today as masses preferred to remain indoors
responding to Gorkha Janmukti Morcha's call to defy West
Bengal government's Saturday's 72-hour ultimatum to restore
normalcy.
Everything was shut, streets and market places in the hill town wore a deserted look since early this morning due to the janata curfew (people policing the streets). People have been staying inside their houses in protest of the statement and demanding separate Gorkhaland state.
