Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) vice president Kalyan Dewan was arrested as the indefinite shutdown in  Darjeeling Hills entered the tenth day today.

GJM vice president Kalyan Dewan, elected member of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, was picked up from Kalimpong town in connection with some old cases of rioting and damaging public property, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Kalimpong) Songmit Lepcha.Lepcha added that 2 warrant of cases of Nagarkatta P.S was pending against him .While Dewan was going to Darjeeling to attend the meeting he was stop at thana dhara by the police who later took him to thana and arrested him .He was later in the evening was produced before Sub Divisional Executive Magistrate Pritam Limboo where limbooordered the police to produced Dewan to Jalpaiguri court on or before 16th Aug , until he has been sent to transit remand. Dewan has booked under Art 147/148/149/181/186/353/325/307/353 of IPC along with R/W 323/354/188/120(B) and RW 3 of PDPP act and arms act 25/27 .
