Share Football Team lifts Independence Cup Knock out Football Tournament

Share Football Team , the local team of Kalimpong became the first team in recent times to lift the Prestigious Independence Cup Knock out Football Tournament. The Tournament which was organised under the banner of Kalimpong Sports Association saw 12 teams form different states and Nepal too. The finals of the tournament was played here at Mela Ground today between Share FC and Assam Regiment. The first goal was scored by the Share FC in early time and lead until the half time but after the break Assam Regiment bounce back and scored a equalizer. Major General G S Sangha, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, 27 Mountain Division was Chief Guest for the event who announced a cash prize of Rs 10 thousand to the winner and Rs 5000 to the runners up from his side in between the match. He said that being a Army he would like to Cheer for Assam Regiment but giving his service at Kalimpong he would Cheer for Share FC the local team. Both the team player fought heart and soul in a nail biting finals. The Final score in the stipulated 90 min was 1-1 . As a result a penalty shoot out was played to decide the Championship . Each and every move of the players thrilled the Jam pack Mela Ground but the heroic of the Goal Keeper from Share FC led their team to Victory. The organizer gave a cash prize of Rs 50000 and the Shield. In addition Rs 10 thousand by Chief Guest and a cash prize of Rs 1000 to goal keeper of Share FC the runners up was awarded Trophy with a cash prize of Rs.25,000.
