ISO 9001:2008 certificate for Regional Sericultural Research Station, Resham Krishi Mela held

Resham Krishi Mela, 2014-15 has
been organized on today at Regional Sericultural Research Station,
Kalimpong premises for the promotion of bivoltine mulberry sericulture in the Darjeeling and Sikkim. Prof. B.N. Chakraborty,
Department of Botany, North
Bengal University,
Siliguri was the chief guest and Dr. S. Nirmal Kumar, Director, Central
Sericultural Research & Training Institute, Berhampore was president. Beside,
Shri R. Bhattacharya, Joint Secretary (Tech), Regional Office, Kolkata, DoS, Sikkim, DoT(Seri), West Bengal, Kalimpong, and
farmers from the Darjeeling and Sikkim
were also participated. Welcome address was given by Smt. Chandana Maji,
Scientist-D, In-charge of the station.
It is glad to inform that, the
Regional Sericultural Research Station has completed the 70 years of journey
since its establishment from 1945 for development of sericulture industry in
this region. This research station has also been awarded ISO 9001:2008
certificate for rendering the services in research & development, training,
extension and overall development & monitoring of sericulture in Darjeeling district and Sikkim. Four pamphlets and one
manual have been released by the chief guest and president for promotion of
bivoltine mulberry and muga sericulture.
Smt. Sanu Pradhan, Smt. Shanti
Rai, Shri Tenzing Lepcha from Kalimpong and Shri Narbahadur Mishra, Shri Keshar
Singh Tewari and Shri Raju Thapa from East Sikkim
were awarded memento and certificate for production of quality bivoltine
cocoon. Shri B.K. Chhetri, KKS, Kalimpong has also addressed the Resham Krishi
Mela. Technical session were attended by the scientists Dr. M.D Maji, Shri
Sudeb Chatterjee, Shri S.T. Lepcha, Dr. R.L. Ram along The programme was
ended by vote of thanks
with the scientists from the main institute.
