K.P Tamsang centenary observed

Many Lepchas from the suburbs of Kalimpong assembled in Pochak, Gitabling
to honor late K.P Tamsang and his contributions to develop the lepcha
communities on his 100th birth anniversary today.
Throwing light on the
life history of K.P Tamsang- the person behind preserving the lepcha language
and the writer of Lepcha literature, the director of St. Joseph School
Gitabling said that his schools St Mary’s and St. Joseph’s will celebrate ‘K.P
Tamsang Year’ where many competitive contests like essay writing, poetry recitation
and debate competition will be held throughout 2015 all based on Tamsang’s
life.
Installing a statue of
Tamsang in Pochak, Gitabling was also decided in the same program where Yousaf
Simik the vice chairman of MLDP positively agreed with it while he addressed
the crowd about the contributions of Tamsang who was a renowned scholar,
linguist and thinker who worked throughout his life for the development of
lepcha language, literature and culture. .
However six different
books of different writers were also unveiled in the presence of eminent
personalities there
