January 21, 2015:
Kashyam, 25 kilometers away from K-town (under number
39 constituency) who approached the contractors for a 3 kilometers road
as their basic requirement in 2012 is still stuck after the landslide
of 2013.
It
was known that the construction started in 2012 in P.M.G.S.Y plan
connecting 3 villages and benefitting more than 20-30 thousand people,
the work was on its process but the calamity of 2013 interrupted,
dismantling 40 percent of the work there.
According
to the people, the reasons for the proper construction of 3 km road is
the location of the Gram Panchyat in Kashyong, where it takes a day to
reach and return if taken the route that goes from Pedong via Algarah,
approximating it as 35 kilometers. Another reason of transport being
that the location of the cinchona plantation where number of people use
the road which now is in the pitiable condition.
Talking
to the journalists, Dhiraj Rai one of the inhabitant also informed that
the concerned contractors were reported about the damage and the
stoppage of the work where the application was submitted to P.M.G.S.Y
and people from kolkotta visited the site to no avail, prolonging the
statement he said ‘The engineers and concerned people from the
department appeared in the spot, but no improvements are visible till
2015 that’s how we started the work by ourselves.’
‘People
will use this road irrespective to the condition, we have seen bike
accidents and that’s why we came together to clear the congestion in our
own contributed budget and to make sizeable width where small vehicles
can transport easily,’ added Rai.
Economically
the hamlet is far-flung from the main road and the tariff for
transporting goods for constructions reaches 7,000 rupees which makes
hole in the pocket if taken the long route, while the fare reaches 1,500
in the other side, said Santa Rai adding that the construction of the 3
kilometers road is very essential and stills expects the higher
authority to look after their problem and restart their work soon.
